Acuity Breach

​In mid-2020, a massive dataset labeled "Acuity" surfaced online, comprising approximately 437GB of personal information. This dataset contained over 14 million unique email addresses and more than 400 data fields per record, including names, phone numbers, physical addresses, dates of birth, genders, and other sensitive details. The origin of this data remains unclear, as no organization named "Acuity" has publicly acknowledged a breach corresponding to this dataset.​ 
The dataset was widely distributed on hacking forums, raising concerns about its potential misuse. The lack of attribution and verification has made it challenging to assess the full impact and scope of the breach. Despite efforts by cybersecurity experts to trace the source, the dataset's provenance remains unconfirmed.​ 
As of now, there have been no public reports of legal actions or regulatory investigations related to this dataset. The incident underscores the challenges in attributing and responding to large-scale data breaches, especially when the source remains unidentified.
