What happened in the Vantage Finance Breach?

DataBreach.com Team · September 7th 2025, 8:00 pm EDT

What happened

In late July 2025, Vantage Finance, LLC-an Omaha-based F&I partner to independent auto dealers-was named in a data-extortion post. Some third-party trackers mislabeled the victim as a UK firm due to the shared name, but the affected company aligns with the Omaha operation at vantagefinance.com. The earliest public indicators place the listing around July 23-24, 2025. ([vantagefinance.com][1], [HookPhish][2], [DeXpose][3])

Who is the company

Vantage Finance describes itself as a “virtual finance” service that connects independent dealerships with lenders from its Omaha base at 4629 S 108th St, Suite A, Omaha, NE 68137-an address reflected on the firm’s site and corporate filings. ([vantagefinance.com][1], [SunBiz][4])

Threat actor & status

The name appeared on Everest-related monitoring feeds around July 23, 2025. Those posts help date the event but conflate the brand with a defunct UK mortgage broker that once traded as “Vantage Finance,” which is why some summaries point to vantagefinance.co.uk rather than the Omaha firm. Because no first-party notice has been published by the company or state regulators naming the Omaha entity, the event is best characterized as data-extortion with third-party corroboration but without a company statement. Our parse (unique records)

We analyzed a dataset attributed to this incident and found:

  • 182,900 phone numbers
  • 109,700 SSNs
  • 16,600 emails
    Data elements & consumer impact

The mix-phone-heavy with substantial SSNs and a smaller email set-tracks with dealership finance workflows (credit apps, F&I processing). If accurate, exposed SSNs raise the risk of identity theft, fraudulent credit applications, and tax-refund fraud. Consumers should consider a credit freeze and heightened monitoring.
What’s confirmed elsewhere (and what isn’t)

As of September 8, 2025, we have not located a regulator filing specifically naming Vantage Finance, LLC (Omaha). Not to be confused: Vantage Financial Group (Toledo, OH) reported a separate email-account breach with notices dated February 5, 2025, logged in state AG trackers-this is a different company. ([Maine][7], [Strauss Borrelli PLLC -][8])
