In May 2018, Poshmark, a social commerce marketplace, experienced a data breach that exposed approximately 36 million user accounts. The compromised data included email addresses, usernames, full names, genders, locations, and passwords hashed using bcrypt.
The breach was publicly disclosed in August 2019, when Poshmark announced that an unauthorized third party had acquired user data. The company stated that financial information and physical addresses were not affected. Poshmark advised users to change their passwords as a precautionary measure and implemented enhanced security measures to prevent future incidents.
