What happened in the Unknown Breach (not SOCRadar) Breach?

DataBreach.com Team · November 30th 2024, 7:00 pm EST

In August 2024, a dataset containing over 332 million email addresses was posted on Breach Forums, a well-known cybercrime forum. The post alleged that these addresses were scraped from the cybersecurity firm SOCRadar. However, SOCRadar's investigation concluded that there was "no data breach involving our customers or SOCRadar's internal systems" and that the data was scraped from Telegram channels.

The dataset, totaling approximately 14GB in CSV format, contained only email addresses without associated passwords or personal information. Despite this, cybersecurity experts warned of potential risks, including phishing attacks, spam campaigns, and brute-force login attempts, especially if combined with credentials from other data breaches.
