In December 2018, Mappery, an online platform dedicated to map sharing and cartography enthusiasts, suffered a data breach that compromised over 205,000 user accounts. The exposed information included email addresses and passwords hashed using the unsalted SHA-1 algorithm, which is widely regarded as insecure due to its susceptibility to rapid cracking
