In June 2022, several Israeli hotel chains and travel websites experienced data breaches, potentially compromising the personal information of thousands of customers. The affected platforms included hotel4u.co.il, booking-hotels.co.il, and come2israel.com, among others. The compromised data encompassed sensitive details such as customer names, contact information, reservation specifics, and payment information. The Israeli Privacy Protection Authority intervened, seizing the servers of the non-compliant company to mitigate further risks. In a related incident, a member of BreachForums claimed to have leaked data from hotels.co.il, a popular Israeli booking platform. The exposed information reportedly included details of 140,000 customers, such as user IDs, hotel information, room categories, total prices, stay dates, guest details (names, phone numbers, emails, nationalities), credit card tokens, transaction IDs, reservation numbers, and cancellation information.
