In June 2011, HackForums.net, a prominent online forum dedicated to discussions on hacking and computer security, experienced a significant data breach. The breach was orchestrated by the hacktivist group LulzSec as part of their "50 days of lulz" campaign. The attackers infiltrated the forum's systems and extracted approximately 200,000 user accounts. The compromised data encompassed a wide range of personal information, including usernames, email addresses, passwords, dates of birth, IP addresses, instant messenger identities, social connections, spoken languages, time zones, user website URLs, and website activity. LulzSec publicly released this data on June 25, 2011, alongside other information obtained from various organizations, marking the conclusion of their campaign.
