In October 2014, the now-defunct Belgian gaming news forum 9Lives suffered a data breach that exposed approximately 109,515 users' personal information. The compromised data included email addresses, usernames, and salted MD5 password hashes. This breach was later redistributed as part of a larger corpus of data. The breach was publicly disclosed in February 2025, when the compromised data was posted on a popular hacking forum.
